Overview

Brookdale Community College invites applications for a full-time, tenure track Instructor, Engineering and Technologies, to begin in January 2025. We seek candidates who are committed to Brookdale's mission of success and academic excellence and who desire to work in a diverse and dynamic environment. In addition to excellent academic credentials and subject area knowledge, candidates will bring to the College a love of teaching, an enthusiastic desire to assist students, and an eagerness to contribute to the Brookdale community. Candidates will demonstrate a passion for lifelong learning, inside and outside of the classroom.

 

The Engineering and Technology department offers diverse courses and programs in Engineering, CADD, Electronics Technology, Networking, and Cybersecurity. The college’s cybersecurity program holds the National Security Agency (NSA) and the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) CAE-CD designation as a Center of Academic Excellence in Cyber Defense. The department has also been successful in securing nearly $4 million in grant funding to support department and College-related initiatives. The ideal candidate will have demonstrated professional growth and the capacity to—over time—contribute to current and future grant work and all of our existing programs and play a role in developing and teaching new and innovative curricula.

Responsibilities

  • Teach a variety of courses in Engineering & Technology. 
  • Engage in Department, Institute, and College initiatives, assessment projects, curriculum development, articulation agreements, and advisory committees.
  • Participate in shared governance and incorporate instructional technologies as appropriate to improve student knowledge attainment.
  • Willingness to participate in marketing and promoting the program with college departments.
  • Maintain competence in teaching and discipline through professional development activities.
  • Meet with and assist students regarding comprehension of course content.

Qualifications

Education:

  • A master's degree in Engineering or a related field.

 

Experience:

  • Prior Teaching experience is desirable.

 

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

  • The ability to teach courses in general Engineering (Electrical, Mechanical), CADD, Electronics Technology, Networking Communications, and Cybersecurity, and excellent technology, communications, and organizational skills.
  • As we have a strong relationship with the Physics department, the candidate may have opportunities to contribute to that department as well.
  • Demonstrated willingness to maintain skills as technology changes and to collaborate with colleagues to teach classes in various modalities – face-to-face, online via the College’s LMS.
  • Commitment to supporting an inclusive environment on campus.
  • Evidence of respect for and an understanding of people with diverse backgrounds, abilities, and needs.
  • Evidence of understanding about and commitment to the philosophy of a comprehensive community college.

 

Preferred Qualifications & Special Considerations: 

Knowledge of Monmouth County and its communities.

(Faculty Members teaching extra courses or working additional hours during the academic year and in the summer receive additional compensation.)
