Overview

Perform general facilities maintenance, repair, renovation, and installation duties, including carpentry, painting, landscape, furniture, signage, and various other duties relating buildings and grounds in a safe and prescribed manner. Execute maintenance work orders as assigned and confer with the administrator or contractor as appropriate. Follow safety guidelines and inspect equipment/ systems on a regular basis.

Responsibilities

Maintenance / Repairing - including, but not limited to:

  • Repair or replace sections of flooring
  • Replace ceiling tiles as needed.
  • Repair potholes in asphalt with a cold patch.
  • Repair signage inside the buildings and on the exterior
  • Repair window treatments - blinds and shades.
  • Move and repair furniture Repair gutters and downspouts.

Installation - including but not limited to:

  • Install signage at various locations.
  • Install floor and ceiling tiles, set forms, and finished cement; install locks/deadbolts.
  • Prepares layout, using rule, framing square, and calipers.
  • Constructs, erects, installs, and repairs structures and fixtures of wood, plywood, and wallboard, using carpenter's hand tools and power tools.
  • Apply paint, varnish, shellac, enamel, lacquer, or other protective/decorative finishes to various surfaces.

Safety Inspection - including but not limited to:

  • Maintain a safe and orderly workplace.
  • Follow all departmental safety and work procedures and attend required safety training classes.
  • Inspect the work of self and others, and review work for accuracy, neatness, and thoroughness.
  • Notify managers of safety issues and hazardous situations in a timely manner.
  • Inspect the exterior and interior of buildings. Report any safety & structural issues or concerns to the manager.
  • Inspect the grounds, which include but are not limited to parking lots, landscaping, storm drains, basins, and sidewalks.

Perform related tasks as assigned by the manager:

  • May be required to landscaping, salting walkways or snow removal.

Qualifications

Education:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required. Associates preferred.
  • Vocational or technical school training is desirable.

Experience:

  • Four years’ directly related experience.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

  • Knowledge of work hazards and applicable safety precautions associated with assigned areas of work.
  • Knowledge of equipment maintenance, installation, and advanced skill in the operation of various equipment that is essential to the position.
  • Interpersonal, communications, and customer service skills.
  • Computer literacy skills at an intermediate level with the demonstrated ability to utilize and apply Microsoft Office Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint as well as specialized software programs and computer applications.
  • Ability to learn and apply office practices, procedures, policies, and regulations that are essential to the position.
  • Valid driver's license required.
