Provide direct support to students enrolled in Career and Technical Education (CTE) programs through individual and small-group assistance focused on reinforcing technical skills, industry-specific competencies, and concepts learned through classroom, laboratory, and experiential learning instruction. Reinforce program-specific competencies, support student engagement, and assist students in accessing resources that contribute to academic success, credential attainment, and workforce preparedness. The position provides specialized support to students preparing for industry-recognized certifications, licensure examinations, and other workforce credentials associated with Career and Technical Education programs.

Student Learning & Technical Skills Support

• Provide individual and small-group support to students enrolled in Career and Technical Education programs.
• Reinforce technical skills, competencies, and concepts learned through classroom, laboratory, and experiential learning activities.
• Assist students in the use of program-specific software, technology, equipment, and learning resources.
• Assist students in applying technical knowledge and skills to industry-relevant projects, workplace scenarios, and program-based learning activities.
• Support students in preparing for industry-recognized certifications, licensure and credentialing examinations, portfolio reviews, projects, performance assessments, and other credential attainment requirements.
• Conduct individual and small-group review sessions, study groups, and supplemental learning activities focused on program-specific technical standards, terminology, procedures, and competencies required for credential attainment and employment in the student's field of study.
• Respond to student questions related to course concepts, technical skills, and program expectations.
• Identify recurring areas of student difficulty related to technical skills and communicate observations to faculty to assist in the development of supplemental learning resources and review activities.

Student Engagement and Support

• Assist students in utilizing available resources and support services.
• Encourage participation in tutoring, workshops, skill-development activities, and other academic support services.
• Refer students to appropriate college resources, including advising, career services, tutoring, accessibility services, and counseling services, as needed.
• Maintain records of student contacts and support activities consistent with departmental and grant-reporting requirements.
• Assist with outreach efforts designed to promote student participation and engagement in CTE support services.
• Encourage student participation in credential preparation activities, technical skills review sessions, and supplemental learning opportunities designed to support successful program completion and workforce readiness.

Faculty and Program Collaboration

• Collaborate with faculty and staff to support student achievement.
• Communicate recurring student learning challenges and technical skill gaps to faculty and supervisors.
• Assist in implementing Perkins-funded activities related to technical skill development, credential preparation, and student support in CTE programs.

Education:

• Bachelor's degree required in discipline, a related field, or, in limited circumstances, an equivalent combination of education and experience from which comparable knowledge and abilities can be acquired.

Experience:  

• Experience in tutoring, workforce training, technical instruction, academic support services, student support services, or a related field preferred.

• Demonstrated ability to communicate technical concepts effectively in individual and small-group settings.
• Proven ability to work effectively with students of varying ages, cultures, educational backgrounds, and skill levels.
• Strong interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills.
• Ability to establish effective working relationships with students, faculty, and staff.
• Computer literacy skills at an intermediate level including a proven ability to utilize and apply Microsoft Office Outlook, Word, Excel, and Power Point as well as specialized software programs and computer applications essential to the learning process e.g. the College’s Learning Management System and ERP.
• Ability to maintain accurate records and documentation.
• Ability to travel to other sites as needed.
• Fluency in a second language may be required.

Preferred Qualifications and Special Considerations:

• Knowledge of Monmouth County and its communities.
• College-wide position that may require flexible hours/schedule in any Brookdale location.
